What Is the Miracle League?
The Miracle League is designed for children and adults with physical or cognitive disabilities who may not be able to participate in traditional leagues. The program focuses on fun, friendship, and inclusion—ensuring every athlete gets the chance to step onto the field, swing the bat, and round the bases.
The Shakopee field includes several features designed to make the game accessible for all players:
• Rubberized turf that allows wheelchairs, walkers, and mobility devices to move safely
• Wheelchair-accessible dugouts and gates
• Barrier-free pathways and viewing areas for families
• A buddy system, pairing each athlete with a volunteer who helps them throughout the game
Built by the Shakopee Community
The Miracle League of Shakopee is a true community collaboration. The project is being led by the Shakopee Lions Club, with generous support from local associations, families, businesses, and community donors.
Inaugural Season: Summer 2026
The first official Miracle League of Shakopee season will run from mid-May through the end of July 2026, with games typically played once per week and lasting about 1 to 1.5 hours.
The league is designed to be flexible and welcoming for all athletes and families. In addition to the summer season, organizers are also planning a short fall season in September 2026.
How the Community Can Get Involved
The Miracle League thrives because of community support, and there are many ways to participate:
• Register a Player
Athletes with disabilities of all experience levels are welcome to join the inaugural season.
• Volunteer as a Buddy
Buddies assist players on the field—helping them hit, run the bases, and celebrate every moment.
• Support the Mission
Community donations and sponsorships help maintain the field and ensure the league continues to grow.
